Build a Stronger Bond Through Obedience
At Perfect Pooches Dog Training & Grooming, our dog obedience classes are about more than just teaching commands — they're about building lasting, respectful relationships between dogs and their owners.
Using positive reinforcement and clear communication, we help you teach your dog how to navigate everyday life with confidence, focus, and self-control. Whether you're raising a new rescue or fine-tuning your dog’s manners, our structured obedience program is designed to support both you and your dog every step of the way.
Serving Coalhurst, Lethbridge, and Southern Alberta, we’ve been helping dog owners create calm, responsive companions since 1997.
What Our Dog Obedience Classes Teach
Our obedience program is built around real-world behaviors that matter — both at home and out in the community. Each week introduces new skills while reinforcing previous lessons, ensuring dogs and owners build steady, lasting habits together.
In our obedience classes, your dog will learn to:
- Walk calmly on a loose leash
- Respond reliably to recall (come when called)
- Sit, down, stand, and stay on cue
- Ignore distractions like people, dogs, and noises
- Wait politely at doors and in the home
- Build body awareness and confidence
- Develop social skills around other dogs and humans
- Practice self-control in stimulating environments
- Think creatively through simple trick training
We also guide you through using online tools and resources to continue your dog's progress between classes and after the course ends.
Why Obedience Training Matters
Dog obedience training isn't just about control — it’s about creating a dog who can live peacefully with your family, engage positively in public, and confidently respond to new situations. With the right structure, your dog can:
- Reduce anxiety through predictable routines
- Improve behavior in and outside the home
- Respond faster and more consistently to your cues
- Enjoy more freedom and enrichment in daily life
- Be welcomed in more public settings (parks, patios, events)
It’s also a powerful way to build trust and connection between you and your dog — one positive interaction at a time.
Small Class Sizes, Personal Attention
Our group obedience classes are capped at just six dogs to ensure every handler gets personal coaching, and every dog receives the attention they need to thrive.
