Small Classes. Big Results.

At Perfect Pooches Dog Training & Grooming, our group dog training classes help dogs and their owners build real-world skills, confidence, and connection in a supportive, distraction-rich environment.

Led by trainer Evelyn Sera, each session focuses on teaching dogs how to listen, focus, and behave reliably — not just in your living room, but around other people, pets, and daily challenges. Whether your dog is brand new to training or needs to refine their skills, our small group format creates structure and success for every team.

What Group Training Offers

Our group training classes are designed for dogs that are past the puppy stage (5+ months) and ready to learn alongside others. We use positive reinforcement, clear communication, and personalized coaching to guide you and your dog through the fundamentals and beyond.

Skills Taught Include:

  • Sit, down, stand on cue
  • Walking calmly on a loose leash
  • Reliable recall (coming when called)
  • Stay and impulse control
  • Greeting people politely
  • Focusing around distractions
  • Building self-control and handler connection

You’ll also gain a better understanding of:

  • How dogs learn
  • How to communicate clearly
  • How to motivate your individual dog
  • What to do when things go off track

Class Format & Details

Our standard group obedience class runs for 6 weeks, with one session per week.

Group Class Breakdown:

  • Week 1: Orientation (no dogs) — foundational theory, training tools, and behavior Q&A
  • Weeks 2–6: One-hour in-person classes with your dog
  • Max 6 dogs per group to ensure personalized support
  • Held at our private indoor facility in Coalhurst

Classes are structured, yet relaxed — we move at the pace of the group and build on each week’s lessons to help you succeed step by step.

Benefits of Group Training

Training with a small group offers unique advantages:

  • Controlled distractions to help dogs learn focus
  • Social exposure in a safe, structured setting
  • Peer learning as dogs watch and learn from one another
  • Real-life problem solving with trainer feedback
  • More affordable than private sessions, but still personalized

Plus, it’s a great way to connect with other local dog owners on the same journey.

If your dog is very reactive or fearful around others, we may recommend a private training session first, then help you transition into a group when ready.

Frequently asked questions

  • What should I bring to class?

    You’ll need:

    • A flat collar or harness
    • A standard (non-retractable) leash

    • A treat pouch (optional, but helpful)
    • Your dog’s vaccination records for the first class
