our story

Over 25 Years of Trusted Dog Training & Grooming

Founded in 1997 by Evelyn and Bob Sera, Perfect Pooches Dog Training & Grooming has grown into one of Southern Alberta’s most trusted destinations for dog training, grooming, and private pet recreation. What began as a passion for dogs quickly became a full-time commitment to helping pet owners raise happy, well-mannered, and healthy companions.

Located on a spacious 3.3-acre property just outside Coalhurst, our family-run facility was built from the ground up with dogs in mind. From our custom 2,000 sq. ft. indoor training and grooming center to our expansive fenced outdoor play areas and 10,000 sq. ft. agility field, every inch is designed to support the well-being and development of your dog.



Over the past 25+ years, we’ve worked with hundreds of clients across Lethbridge, Coalhurst, and the surrounding 75-mile region, offering specialized support for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.

Meet the Team

Evelyn Sera

Founder, Trainer, Groomer, Breeder

With a background in education and a lifelong love of animals, Evelyn Sera brings over 25 years of hands-on experience to every class and grooming session. Her training philosophy is rooted in positive reinforcement, consistency, and communication — not just with the dogs, but with their owners too.

Evelyn began her professional dog training journey with her first Shetland Sheepdog and later became a registered Standard Poodle breeder under the Seransil prefix. She brings her dual expertise in both canine behavior and structured learning into all of her programs, whether it’s a puppy socialization class or an advanced obedience course.

Stephanie Hart

Groomer (Paws2Hart Grooming)

Stephanie Hart leads Paws2Hart Grooming, offering grooming services within the Perfect Pooches facility. With more than 10 years of grooming experience and a deep affection for Standard Poodles, Stephanie ensures every dog is treated with respect and patience.

Her grooming style emphasizes comfort, quality, and efficiency — Crates are provided but grooming dogs are offered opportunities to socialize with each other if possible. Grooming dogs are offered indoor and outdoor play space. We avoid high-velocity dryers, hand-drying each dog for a calm, stress-free experience.

Our Facility

We are proud to offer a clean, well-equipped, and private space for both training and grooming. Located just off the highway across from Coalhurst, our property includes:

• A 2,000 sq. ft. indoor training and grooming building
• Multiple fenced outdoor play yards for supervised and private use
• A 10,000 sq. ft. dog agility field for active learning and enrichment
• Ample parking and rural privacy for a peaceful experience



Our unique setup allows us to offer a combination of grooming, structured training, off-leash play, and event hosting all in one place — something that’s hard to find elsewhere in Southern Alberta.
